Iwai Shimako Was born 1964 Dec 5th. She is a Japanese writer. Iwai Shimako is her pen name. She was born in Okayama, Japan.

In 1982 she won her first award while still in high school yet the competition was an adults competition for short stories. However in 1999 she claimed the top prize at one of the most prestigous awards a Horror writer in Japan can claim for the outstanding Boukee Kyoutee which has subsequently been made into a movie in English.

  • 1964 Born in Okayama, Japan.
  • 1986 Debuts with her first book "Dreaming Rabbit and Police Boy" under her real name.
  • 1998 Marries and hence changes her name.
  • 1999 Wins the Japan Horror Writers Association top award.
  • 2000 Wins second award for Boukee Kyoutee, The Yamamoto Award for Outstanding Writing.
  • 2002 Publishes "Okayama Girl", "Chai Koi" and "Jiyuu Renai" which all claim highly coveted awards including The Kouronbun Award. Jiyuu Renai is made into a 2 hour drama and becomes a major hit, so much so the title is known by most Japanese even now.
  • 2005 Joins TV show as a regular. Guest talk show about the Erotic and begins to collect related characters.
  • 2006 Continues more TV work with more regular appearances on Kansai TV and Tokyo MX TV.
